What is Pilates
Pilates is an exercise method created by a man named Joseph Pilates. He called his method Contrology. The Pilates Method uses Breath, Focus, Intention, Stability & Core Strength to create a Mindful way of moving the body. There is a focus on moving the spine in all it’s directions (Flexion, Extension, Rotation & Lateral Flexion) as well as using the core muscles to stabilize the body as we work the muscles in our arms & legs often using resistance from large Pilates equipment or small bands, fitness circle or toning weights.
STOTT Pilates is a contemporary approach to the original Pilates Method based on modern principles of exercise science and rehabilitation.
Pilates can be beneficial in helping you recover from an injury, strengthen your body to reduce or eliminate Back Pain, Hip and Shoulder Pain. Pilates can help strengthen your core, give you better balance, feel taller and have more focus and energy.
